A Critical Moment for Black Health: Why This Book Matters Now
The health of Black America is at a crossroads—and the stakes have never been higher. As long-standing health disparities persist and new policy shifts threaten to roll back hard-won gains in health equity, access, and funding for minority-focused initiatives, the urgency to become informed, proactive, and empowered cannot be overstated. Better Black Health arrives at a critical moment, offering not just information, but a roadmap—grounded in science, culture, and lived experience—to help African Americans navigate a system that has too often failed to serve us equitably.
This is not a book for passive reading—it is a call to action. In a time when resources are being reduced and responsibility is increasingly shifting to individuals and communities, Better Black Health equips readers with the knowledge, strategies, and tools to take control of their health outcomes. It challenges us to move from awareness to action, from vulnerability to vitality. If we are to protect and advance the health of our families and future generations, this is essential reading—now, not later.
